Misgav Newsletter Q2 2008

A "Capital" Idea
As this newsletter highlights, there are a lot of great things happening in our portfolio companies. One of our primary challenges remains leveraging these great advances and raising the capital necessary to do so.

This month I would like to call your attention to four great Misgav Venture Accelerator companies that are currently looking to raise capital:
  • HTL High Tech Lipids: HTL recently signed an agreement with a large European pharmaceutical company (see below) under which the Europeans commit to bring HTL's first product to market. Additionally, the two companies have submitted a joint application to a European-Israeli funding body. So what's missing?  HTL needs to immediately raise $1 million in order to fund its share of the development costs.
  • ID-U Biometrics: ID-U was recently named the IVA-Globes Start-Up of the Year! The company has also received Chief Scientist approval for a third year in the incubator and we are committed to investing a portion of the supplementary funding required. We are seeking either the balance of the supplementary funding or, alternatively, a large investment that would greatly accelerate the company's pace of development.
  • Lavi Cardiatec: Lavi recently successfully completed its first clinical trials and also had its first patent issued -- two very important milestones. The company is concluding a first modest investment and is looking to raise $1-$2 million in order to launch its first product.
  • JetGuide: Like Lavi, JetGuide recently completed very successful clinical trials at Rambam Medical Center.  Additionally, the company is in serious commercial discussions with three world leaders in the medical device field. An investment of $2 million will enable the company to bring its first products to market.
Please feel free to contact me should you like information about any of these opportunities.  You can also find information about all four companies on our website.

Have a great summer!
