Wound treatment co EnzySurge gets FDA nod

Wound treatment company EnzySurge Ltd. has received marketing approval from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its SilverStream cleansing solution.

The FDA approval covers both the solution and accompanying device, and permits it to be poured straight onto the wound.

According to founder and chief scientist Dr. Amihay Freeman, and R&D manager Dr. Noa Hadar, who both led development of the product, SilverStream contains a small concentration of silver which helps treat typical bacteria in the wound. The company has other solutions in the regulatory approval pipeline including a solution for regenerating wounds and a solution for nurturing new tissues. Both are designed for use with the same device, which applies SilverStream.

The device, which is flexible and water tight, creates a closed, controlled wound dressing environment and the solution is applied through it using light pressure. The solution flushes out liquids which cause inflammation and infections as well as dead cells.
