Scorpion Surgical Technologies appears in Biomedical Business & Technology

by Jeffrey Berg, Ph.D.
BB&T Contributing Editor

Spinal and Cardiovascular Implants
Scorpion Surgical Technologies (Misgav) has developed an implant for fusion procedures that can be used instead of pedicle screws. It is a curved spinal anchoring device that provides a better hold of the vertebra and longer durability, as compared to other devices. It is particularly suited for use on osteoporotic patients. In addition, Scorpion’s curved system provides a less-invasive posterior approach, enabling a 360° fusion that can substantially reduce surgical risk and procedure time.

The company reported successful biomechanical and pre-clinical cadaver tests, with the anchoring device being connected to two vertebrae.
